Albums
The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and a number of compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band performed sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned, and the band held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.
